Using the pattern from PomPom Baby Hat, but instead of doing K Tog, I tried slip 1, knit 1, psso; which seemed to make it look more even. Also, I reduced the number of rows I combined, taking longer to bring the circle of the hat together into the crown, to make the hat pointer.
