I was really afraid that I wouldn't finish this bag in time for the rapture, but it looks like we all got an extension.

Every now and then, I get the desire to completely wreck a sewing machine and nothing does a more thorough job than trying to sew through faux fur. Between the fur jamming into the throat plate, tangling with the thread, and breaking needles like ironman on heroin; Faux Fur is not for the faint of heart.

But I love how it transforms an easy ring bag into a winter muppet confection. I made a red velvet lining with an inside pocket. The pocket, like the bag, has a magnetic closure. I sewed the plastic ring handles into the red velvet, and then sewed the lining to the bag inside out...hoping to minimize how much the fur-side hit the needle.

All was fine until I did the top stitching on the top, which I did right-side out. The fur literally flew.

The beads are large glass beads that I sewed on by hand using jewelry string, which is essentially fishing line.
